Professional Experience
Chelsea Minor joined KP’s public relations division in 2010. She currently provides public relations, coalition building, and issue research services for several KP clients. In particular, Ms. Minor is working on public affairs projects dealing with tax policy and environmental regulations, and is also working on an effort to promote economic growth and job creation as top priorities for the state.
Prior to joining KP, Ms. Minor worked as a Legislative Assistant for Assemblyman Sam Blakeslee. In this capacity, Ms. Minor managed multiple communications project for the caucus, including identifying speakers by expertise, drafting talking points and managing the logistics. In addition, Ms. Minor coordinated the outreach and communication efforts for a task force devised to determine the imminent threat of a sunken vessel, the Montebello. Ms. Minor managed the public relations strategies, specifically identifying appropriate media outlets, messaging and long-term strategic planning. Chelsea counseled Assemblyman Blakeslee on policy relating to higher education, transportation, business and professions, public safety, and revenue and taxation.
Prior to working for Assemblyman Blakeslee, Ms. Minor served as a California State Assembly Fellow for Assemblyman Roger Niello.
Her appreciation for public policy began when she was student body president at California State University, Stanislaus. As president, Ms. Minor lobbied for student access to the California State University system. In addition, she successfully advocated for a new student recreation complex for the Campus, expanded use for institutionally related fees, and was instrumental in merging together multiple student run organizations.
As student body president, Ms. Minor was a member of the California State Student Association and an attendee of the Panetta Public Policy Institution, CSU Monterey Bay, CA. During her education, Ms. Minor was very active in her sorority, Alpha Xi Delta.
Education
Ms. Minor graduated from California State University Stanislaus with a degree in Social Science with a concentration in Political Science, Economics and Communications. She is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Business, Marketing at California State University, Sacramento.
