Professional Experience

Daniel Conway provides public relations and advocacy services to a variety of clients at KP Public Affairs. His practice focuses on issues relating to small business and economic growth, land use, and the environment. Mr. Conway’s experience includes extensive work in the areas of media relations, issue management and coalition building.

Mr. Conway currently serves as the Director of Media Relations for the California Restaurant Association. He acts as the association’s spokesman and works with political and business reporters that cover the industry and the association’s activities. His quotes have appeared in every major newspaper in California and his radio appearances on behalf on the CRA include AirTalk with Larry Mantle, CNN Radio, Swedish Public Radio and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

In addition, Mr. Conway provides lobbying and consulting services to Daimler, the parent company of Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner.

In 2007, Mr. Conway managed a coalition of small business organizations that promoted cost-effective, broad-based health care reform.

Prior to joining KP Public Affairs, Mr. Conway worked at Kaufman Campaign Consultants, a prominent Sacramento-based campaign firm. His time there included the historic special election of 2005 in which the firm and its president, Gale Kaufman, lead an extensive coalition of labor and community groups. His background in campaigns includes campaign management, direct mail production, opposition research and GOTV working on statewide, legislative, and local races.

Before coming to Sacramento, Mr. Conway served in AmeriCorps, working as a teachers’ aide at a public middle school in Santa Barbara.

Education

Mr. Conway double majored in Political Science and History at the University of California, Santa Barbara where he graduated with Honors.
