Professional Experience

David K. Takashima brings to KP Public Affairs nearly thirty years of public affairs experience with California decision makers in both the public and private sectors. Since joining KP Advocacy in 2004, he has assisted clients in the areas of public utilities, state budgetary issues and infrastructure. His clients have included SBC, Southern California Edison, City of Millbrae, and the Pacific Merchant Shipping Association.

Previously Mr. Takashima served as the Chief Deputy Director of the state Department of Finance, under Governor Gray Davis. In this capacity, he served as the administration's representative on the State Lands Commission, Public Works Board, State Allocation Board, California Infrastructure Bank and California State Teacher's Retirement Board. At the Department of Finance, Mr. Takashima crafted two public financing offerings valued at over $11 billion on behalf of the State of California.

Mr. Takashima has extensive private sector experience, having managed the public affairs office of Southern California Edison from 1992 to 1996 and the public affairs of Pacific Gas and Electric from 1997 to 2003. At So Cal Edison and PG&E, Mr. Takashima coordinated the companies' lobbying activities in California and managed the utilities' multi-million dollar political action committees.

During his legislative staff career, Mr. Takashima served with leaders in both the Assembly and State Senate.

Education

Mr. Takashima is a graduate of San Diego State University, 1973 and a graduate of the University of San Diego School of Law, 1977.
