Professional Experience

Since joining KP Public Affairs in 1987, Dick Kreutzen has represented client interests in the energy and environmental areas, particularly air and water quality, hazardous waste management, environmental permitting, transportation fuels, and energy planning.

In the mid-90's, Mr. Kreutzen represented a coalition led by the State Chamber of Commerce that successfully advanced a series of legislative and regulatory measures that streamlined environmental permitting, and provided stronger roles for science and economics in rulemaking. Representing the state's largest homebuilders, Mr. Kreutzen played an important role in crafting the compromises that led to the 1998 passage of what was then the largest statewide school bond in history. Representing the Western States Petroleum Association, Mr. Kreutzen participated in several legislative and administrative initiatives dealing with air quality and transportation fuels.

Before joining KP, Mr. Kreutzen held a series of jobs with Chevron Corporation in engineering, labor relations, government affairs, and finally as the general manager of Chevron's corporate environment, health, and safety department, the company's senior manager for those areas.

Education

Mr. Kreutzen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Francisco's School of Law. Mr. Kreutzen is an inactive member of the California State Bar Association.
