Mike Burns
Mike is the Managing Partner at KP. With a wide variety of clients, Mike has been involved in several major policy areas including energy, water resources, environmental regulation, and ports and the supply chain.
In addition to public affairs issues, Mike has managed communication programs that involved crisis communications, social media, corporate reputation, and product marketing. He works with California corporations and small business owners, state business associations, and philanthropic and foundation groups.
Experience:
Former head of the strategic planning and corporate consulting divisions of an entertainment company involved in film and television production
Managed an international campaign to secure approval for a new wireless standard, developed and patented by a California company
Headed Burson-Marsteller’s Public Affairs practice in Southern California and Chicago
Leader of Burson-Marsteller’s utility practice, representing investor owned utilities throughout the country
Previously served as Chief Consultant and Chief of Staff to the Majority Leader of the California State Senate managing legislative and public affairs issues
Started career as a research assistant in the White House

Active in fundraising for local schools and organizations
Member, Advisory Board of the California Summer School of the Arts
